Zack's Magic Club

Hello, my name is Zack, or as my students call me Wizard Zack. I am a professional magician and have been performing and creating magic for over 10 years.

Zack's magic club started just over a year ago when I decided I would love to teach magic to up and coming magicians. I approached the Young Magicians Club run by The Magic Circle in London as I was a member of the club when I was young. I had always been performing magic and I really enjoyed teaching children the methods and performance techniques for each trick. I realised that kids at the club were already quite advanced from learning at home, they were coming to the club with a wide knowledge of magic. This made me think about all the children who had never really thought about magic, and that is where the magic began...

I decided on creating an after school club at primary schools as an introduction to magic. My aunty was working at St Monica's Primary School and I asked if she could arrange for me to do an assembly where I could show a little snippet into what I would be teaching in the club. The first Assembly went incredibly well, a huge number of children showed interest. After sending out letters to parents and guardians, I had 25 children sign up to the first term. This was way more than I thought so I hired my aunty as my Magicians Assistant to help with the class. Each student got their own ID with their Magic Name. I created a 6 week lesson plan which allowed the students to understand the beginnings to magic, and we got started. 

After 6 weeks the first term was over, the students had developed so much, not just in magic but also performance and social skills. I got some amazing emails from some of the students parents explaining how their children have blossomed from being quite shy and now wanting to show and perform their tricks to new people they otherwise wouldn't have. This really gave me a boost and made me super happy to continue. I did another 2 terms and then put on an Awards Ceremony/ Performance Night for all the children and their relatives to come and watch. I gave out certificates and prizes, and all the children got to perform their favourite tricks in front of a big audience. The evening was a hit and I had some really nice encounters with everyone. It was such a wholesome evening, and it showed me that there was something quite special here.

So that is how it began. The club continues to grow, new members, more schools and lots more mini magicians. I have also started advanced classes for kids who really enjoy it and also started to do private lessons.
